To Saugeen Shores Council (please distribute to Council members and the Police Chief )
S.T.O.P. is very concerned about what took place during our peaceful demonstration on Labour Day Monday outside the CAW gates on County Road 25. This is the third driving threat our residents’ group has encountered and by far the most serious. A driver having exited past CAW security staff and barricades drove by S.T.O.P’s info kiosk, yelled obscenities then jammed on his brakes accelerating backwards towards us, tires billowing smoke, smashing into a car now stopped in front of our kiosk with such force that it drove the car back 6 feet. One slip of his hand on that wheel or a glancing vs direct hit on the other car could have resulted in the death of our members. A dangerous driving charge could just as easily be a vehicular homicide charge that our community could be dealing with this week.
