Evidence of strong negative effects of wind farm development on birds

THE effects of the construction of wind farms and their operation on birds is to be looked at in a Thurso seminar.

David Douglas, of the RSPB Centre for Conservation Science, is to give a talk on ‘Breeding golden plover and wind farm development on a northern Scottish peatland’.

The talk will present results from a five-year field study on the edge of the Flow Country which yielded important information on plover breeding ecology on peatland systems.

Evidence on the strong negative effects of wind farm development on the birds will be presented in the talk on Thursday, June 26, at 5.30pm at the Environmental Research Institute (ERI), Castle Street.

Doors open at 5.15pm and all ERI Seminars are free and open to all, with light refreshments available.
