UK Turbine that Would Have Taken 757 Years to Pay for Itself is Scrapped

Andre Walker — Breitbart.com — July 10, 2014

A £50,000 taxpayer-funded wind turbine is to be scrapped after it was revealed that it produced just £5 of electricity a month, according to the Daily Mail. The turbine was installed outside a Welsh government office despite warnings from Civil Servants that it was being installed in an area that was too sheltered to get any wind.

Based on the current power output, it would take 757 years for the turbine to pay for itself, as it generates just 33 kilowatts of energy a month, equivalent to £5.28 worth of electricity. In addition the manufacturers of the 60ft turbine have gone into liquidation and are therefore no longer in a position to maintain it.

A spokesman for the TaxPayers’ Alliance said: “It beggars belief that tens of thousands of pounds of taxpayers’ money was squandered on a scheme with such a minuscule return.”

The manufacturer of the turbine, Quiet Revolution, are said to have warned the Welsh government that they had chosen a poor location for it. It is rumoured that politicians were so keen to prove their green credentials they ignored the advice from their own experts. The result was that the turbine produced so little energy that it was not worth maintaining.  Continue reading, here….

And how long would Ontario’s wind turbines take to pay for themselves if they weren’t heavily subsidized ? Certainly not within their lifetime of 10 to 20 years.

For the politicians who thought this one up, it must have been meant as a badge of honour to locate it outside their offices, even against their own technical people’s advice.
Add this one to the disastrous economics of the wind schemes, the lack of net benefit to the presumed global warming (which stopped sixteen years ago anyway), the landscape pollution, the indicated negative medical and psychological effects on nearby human and animal life, and it becomes clear that low level complaints achieve little in trying to stop those who pursue these wasteful so-called AGW mitigation programs.
It the UK it wouldn’t be the first time that the persons who constitute the “authorities” would be taken to court: the court case on the use of the AlGore propaganda video in schools should serve as an example.
In the US also, Greedy Green and their political masters are being challenged in court cases.
It needs sharp legal beavers, and well-organised and well-funded attacks.
