It’s no secret that madratsid is a big investment. To ensure they last for years to come, you need to properly care for them. Knowing how to make your mattress last longer isn’t hard – it just takes a little bit of effort on your part. Here are the dos and don’ts of mattress care so you can enjoy your mattress for many years to come.

Do: Rotate Your Mattress Regularly

One of the most important things you can do is rotate your mattress regularly. This helps even out wear and tear on the springs or coils, which will in turn, help extend its lifespan significantly. Most experts recommend flipping or rotating it every three months or so, but if you have an older mattress with worn-out coils, then consider doing it more often than that.

Don’t: Jump On It

Resist the urge to jump around on your mattress! Not only is this bad for the springs and other components inside, but it could also cause damage over time, depending on how vigorous you get with it. Instead, keep activities such as jumping and wrestling confined to areas away from the bed – like a couch or playroom floor – if possible.

Do: Use a Mattress Protector

Using a mattress protector is one of the best ways to ensure that dust mites and allergens don’t seep into the fabric of your bedding. It also creates an extra barrier against spills, dirt, stains, sweat, and other debris that can easily accumulate over time without proper protection. Just be sure to check if any warranties are voided when using a protector before buying one!

Don’t: Let Pets Sleep On It (or You!)

While we all love snuggling up with our furry friends at night, it’s not ideal to let them sleep directly on your bed as their claws can catch or scratch the fabric over time – not to mention shed hair everywhere! The same goes for letting them sleep directly on the mattress without sheets or a duvet, as body oils from skin cells can seep into the fabric fibres, causing stains and odors over time. So always make sure there’s a sheet between you/your pets and the bed itself!

Do: Vacuum regularly

Vacuuming regularly helps to keep away dust mites, which can gather in droves at times when we don’t use our beds (like when we’re at work). Doing this once every few weeks should do the trick, just make sure you don’t use attachments such as an upright as these can damage the delicate fabrics used in some mattresses. A handheld vacuum cleaner should do the trick!

Don’t: Place heavy objects on top

Heavy objects, such as bookshelves or pieces of furniture, should never be placed directly on top of a mattress, as they can cause indentations that can make you less comfortable (and shorten the life of the mattress!). However, if necessary, try placing them along the side walls where they won’t interfere with any coil systems underneath the top layers – again, something like slightly lifting your feet off the ground should do the trick!

Do: Allow air to circulate around the bed area

In order for mattresses to stay well-ventilated after long periods of lying in heat-trapping sheets/blankets etc., it’s important that air can circulate freely around them – otherwise, moisture can build up, leading to mould growth etc. To avoid this, keep windows open whenever possible in the summer, while avoiding too much direct sunlight during the day, as UV rays can discolor certain materials more quickly than others might expect.
